NURTURE: Face steaming for dry/mature skin is an excellent way to hydrate and remove dead skin cells. If you have dry skin, facial steaming with emollient and toning herbs can help. These herbs are good for moisturizing and hydrating dry skin. Herbal steams for dry skin can help keep the skin firm, tone, and naturally glowing. Contains all organic herbs of calendula, chamomile, rose, hibiscus, and lime peel.

DEFEND: Steaming the face for acne prone skin or for blackheads is highly effective as it helps to release acne causing bacteria and softens the skin’s sebum. If you have acne-prone skin or want to banish a blemish, facial steaming with astringent and toning herbs can help. An herbal facial steam can help balance face oil, help reduce pimples and blackheads by deeply cleansing the pores, and help the pores tighten and contract. Contains all organic herbs of white willow bark, peppermint, yarrow, raspberry leaf, and yarrow.

CALM: I am often asked if face steaming is good or bad for sensitive skin. In this case, it is important to not overdo it. 10-15 minutes is recommended for this skin type. Follow with a nighttime moisturizer for sensitive skin. We suggest the Tallow Balm-Skin Food that is formulated for irritated or sensitive skin for soothing. I call it, Calm. 🙂 Calm contains all organic herbs of lavender, hibiscus, chamomile, peppermint, willow bark, and rose petals.


  1. Boil a pot of water. Use around 6 cups of water.
  2. Place a large towel on a table and put a heat-resistant bowl on top of it.
  3. Put a handful of your herb mixture into the bowl.
  4. Carefully pour the hot water into the bowl and stir. Let the water cool for about 3 minutes.
  5. Sit with your face over the steaming bowl of water, about 12-18 inches away.
  6. Cover your head and the bowl with another more oversized towel. Pull the towel on the table over the bowl and your head as well, creating a tent.
  7. Close your eyes, inhale and exhale slowly, and hang out and relax for 10 minutes. Take breaks if needed.

Wash the face before and after the process and follow with a nourishing moisturizer for your skin type.

Side Effects Of Steam On the Face

✿ Heat dilates blood vessels, which causes redness and increased inflammation. Skip facial steaming if you have rosacea.
✿ If you have excessively dry, flaky skin or eczema, you may also want to skip steaming. Hot water and temperature strip the skin of its natural moisturizing oils and irritate.
✿ Facial steam can also aggravate susceptible skin and severe weeping acne conditions. Avoid using facial steams if you have these skin conditions. If you are unsure or have questions, check with your doctor before using
