Description
Living within a state of anxiety may seem to be the new normal, uncertainty seems to invade every aspect of our lives. Fear of losing a job, fragmented personal relationships, nutrient depleted foods and scary pharm-medicine, terrorists, pirates, and a thousand other worries are heaped onto a life already moving at a hectic pace. This constant level of anxiety takes a toll, on both a physical and emotional level. For some, the fears become so overwhelming and out of control that they succumb to panic attacks.
…there are herbal allies ready and willing to provide gentle and loving support 🙂
These days, so much of my practice in herbalism has been guided by intuition. In other words, I am learning to listen to my own body and trust the direction in which it leads. I hope, in some small way, I can help you navigate through with trust and confidence in your OWN body.
Making herbal preparations that allow for a whole bunch of flexibility and stand at the ready for whenever you feel the need, is of utmost importance.

This compound blend we call “Peace and Quiet” herbal extract contains…
✿ Lemon Balm
Lemon balm is simply a wonderful natural alternative that provides instant relief for growing stress + anxiety. Lemon balm has some of the most exceptional calming properties. It is most definitely one of my favorite herbal tinctures to have available after a super stressful day. I have lemon balm growing everywhere I can stick it or anywhere it volunteers (which is like EVERYWHERE!)… the smell is even uplifting and calming! Likewise, a dropperful of lemon balm tincture will knock out a stress headache and relieve a multitude of symptoms associated with PMS.
✿ Passion Flower
It also features Passionflower prepared from the flowering herb (leaf, flower & stem) of wild-crafted Passiflora incarnata vines from the area I live in… NE Oklahoma. I harvest from fields and areas that are never EVER sprayed.
Passionflower can also help support those struggling with addiction, tension, irritability, and fear. Research has been done which suggests that “Passiflora extract is an effective drug for the management of generalized anxiety disorder and the low incidence of impairment of job performance” which accompanies pharmaceutical medication. If you are looking to calm the unruly mind, assist sleep, or recover from stress, then find inspiration in the beauty and brain food of Passionflower.
According to a 2010 review (source) of complementary treatments, some evidence suggests that the anti-anxiety effects of P. incarnata are comparable to those of benzodiazepines. Benzodiazepines are a class of drug that doctors may prescribe to treat anxiety.
✿ Valerian
Primarily, it functions as an anxiolytic. Anxiolytics relieve anxiety and have calming, sedative effects. How does valerian accomplish this? One way, it appears, is by increasing levels of GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid) in the brain. GABA is a chemical that our brains make naturally. GABA is what’s known as an “inhibitory neurotransmitter” — it quiets the activity of the neurons of the central nervous system, which helps lower anxiety and boost feelings of relaxation and calm. (you can read more at valerian )
✿ Hops
Yes, it’s in beer, but you won’t get the tranquilizing benefits of the bitter herb hops (Humulus lupulus) from a brew. The sedative compound in hops is a volatile oil, so you get it in extracts and tinctures — and as aromatherapy in hops pillows. It’s used to fight insomnia, stress, and headaches. It’s also beneficial for indigestion, general nervousness, and may help reduce fever.
It’s very bitter, so you don’t see it in tea much, unless combined with other, more flavorful herbs. Hops is often used as a sedative, to promote sleep, often with valerian.
The herbs in our Peace and Quiet herbal extract are individually tinctured to provide a broad-spectrum of plant compounds.
