Goldenrod Salve – Solidago canadenis

This is an organic salve made with goldenrod flower infused cold-pressed organic sunflower oil and pure beeswax harvested at our herb farm. The goldenrod infused oil and salve provides traditional support for aches and pains and helps ease symptoms of tired and achy muscles or arthritis. It can also soothes the itch of an insect bite.

Henriette Kress (a most excellent herbalist from Finland) says…

Goldenrod relieves most muscle aches. Try it for pains nothing else has touched. Give the oil a try for itches and swellings, too.

If you have access to a good amount of goldenrod, it makes a good substitute for arnica in an infused oil or salve. Goldenrod is helpful for bruises, sprains and minor injuries from trauma.

Salves contain oils infused with herbs. Unlike creams or lotions, they contain no water; and, as a result, form a separate layer on the surface of the skin. They protect against injury or inflammation of damaged skin and carry active plant constituents to the injured area. Salves are particularly useful for rosacea, scars, winkles, psoriasis, eczema, itching, muscle and joint pain, hemorrhoids, chapped lips, and diaper rash or where protection from moisture is needed.
